The Chess Junior Chess Set for Kids is a very sturdy product. I expected the puzzle/board to be a bit flimsy but it is very thick and well made and the blocks with the chess pieces pics on them are great for smaller hands. It comes with an easy-to-read instruction booklet as well, so the girls enjoyed learning how to play.

This game is an excellent set for teaching kids the basics of chess. The individual lessons helped my seven years old understand the basics of chess.

This chess set is ideal for younger children. It takes them through the entire game in incremental steps to ensure they understand it.

"Chess Junior" allows younger kids to truly grasp the thought process behind each individual move in chess. It breaks the game down into mini games that are equally as fun for kids to play. As children master these, they can work their way toward grasping the entire game as a whole. They can choose to play either the quicker games to sharpen skills or to engage in a full game. Both options are easy to set up. This is an excellent choice for teaching children the first steps in mastering this classic game. This set is ideal for children ages 5 and up.

This chess set is perfect for beginners and even more perfect for little hands. It is constructed very well and schould last for a very long time.

I just wish it had been more readily available in the US as I had to pay shipping from England. But the chess set has been very well received by my young grandson, so is worth it!

It also contains rules for games which essentially break down chess into smaller bite-size chunks where the objective is to complete different moves that you might see in a game of chess. It is so much easier and more fun for kids to be able to play these games that they can win within 5-6 minutes rather than a full-on game of chess that can last a long time and cause them to get bored and frustrated. Jimmy, November 10, 2019

I love a game of chess so have been trying to teach my son. He's ok but gets carried away with all the different shaped pieces on a traditional board. This solves that problem. First you make the board out of jigsaw pieces (which he enjoys) and then the different pieces are printed on wooden blocks (so he's less distracted). This set has been fabulous for teaching my competetive six year old how to play chess, despite the fact that he has a difficult time focusing sometimes. The puzzles are engaging and incorporate the concepts of chess so that he is really learning to play the game as each puzzle builds on itself, yet he doesn't get too anxious or disappointed because of the way it is designed. I am even getting better at chess myself as I walk him through the puzzles, and he is very excited to begin playing the actual game. We are almost through all of the puzzles, and he now has a good understanding of all the pieces and moves. He is always excited to play, and so am I. This is a great box to give to a child who wants to learn chess, maybe a grandparent giving it to their grandchild to learn the basics before playing using the grandparents treasured chess board. The set comes in a small box which contains everything including the playing pieces and the board. The board is put together from jigsaw pieces and there ideally it would be made on a sturdy table - to be used on a floor a board or sturdy cardboard underneath would be useful. The pieces are stunted cubes which, for younger children learning, will be less of a distraction than using traditional pieces where play fights may ensue. There is a nice little bag to keep all the pieces together when not being used. The company who made this product are very proud to say that their products are all made using Fsc certified wood and all other products are made from recyclable materials. The box also contains a fantastic book which details all the chess moves and it is written at the right level for the child. There are also some non-chess games included which will help young ones to learn chess basics in a relaxed way. I really like this item, the producers have really thought about what it is producing and for its target market. It would make a great gift for either Christmas or Birthday or would make a great addition into a rainy play box in a school or play provision. S.A. Broadhurst, February 14, 2019

I like the puzzle board. The game pieces are all the same size and clearly marked. There are different games to build strategy. I got this for my 9 year old son for Christmas and he seems to like it well. I think it’s good as a beginning set. Customer, January 9, 2019

I took this into my classroom to use with students who already know how to play chess so I could get a good review for it before using with kids who don't know what to do. They said it was an excellent small set that would mean you could carry yourself in a bag or was compact enough for cupboard space for me to leave in the classroom (or a drawer in my desk). The images on the cubes were the same as a normal board so you got the chance to see the board without worrying about the pieces. Fantastic beginners chess set with a cool design. The mini games help teach basic skills without stress and are fun little activities in and of themselves. The puzzle board and cube-shaped pieces are especially neat. The fact that it appears to be made in Germany is an added plus! We will be buying more as gifts. Customer, January 2, 2018

I bought this for my sister-in-law's 7 year old grandson. He loves it. My brother-in-law has been learning it and playing with him. My brother-in-law didn't know how to play chess. He read the direction and said that if he had the set in his youth, he would have learned. Both of them found directions easy. I order this item and it come very fast. However, I received 4 white bishops and no black ones. I contacted the seller and got a respons right away. I was really impressed. The seller offered to send a new item and it got here with in 2 days. Therefore, I am very happy with customer service. Now the item itself, it came in a very sturdy box. It contains bord, pouch, instruction book and the cube pieces. I must say I am very impressed with the quality of the item. From the packaging to the actual pieces, everything is 100% well made. This is the perfect set to get kids started at chess. It's not your typical chess set. It uses cubes with pictures on them instead of chess pieces. These are very easy for kids to grasp and move. You start out by building the chess board. It's a simple jigsaw puzzle that is easy enough for young chldren to put together. Both the board and the cubes appear to be durable and able to stand up to having children play with them. The set comes with instructions that show a few mini games you can use to teach your kidsthe basics of how to move pieces and play the game. Wether you play chess yurself or not, i think this set is a great way to teach kids because it breaks the rules of the game down into small steps.
